Operations Engineer

Job Description

Fab-Minds is looking for an operations engineering professional to lead the operations activities of Fab-Minds' products. As an Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the transformation of highly innovative prototypes into mass produced products. The job will also include interacting with and syncing between internal departments and stakeholders as well as leading the communication with different manufacturing partners both locally and internationally as well as applying all quality and industrialization standards to ensure a well-engineered product ready for deployment worldwide.

To be successful in this role, you must be able to engage in early stages of the product design to direct the design choices for manufacturability and testability. You must also be able to interact and manage the communication with both internal and external partners including but not limited to industrial designers, contract manufacturers, assembly providers, packing and delivery partners and cloud management partners.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop & work on quality assurance/control procedures for the manufacturing process both in-house and in overseas production sites.
  • Initiate continuous process improvements to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Analyze cost structures and provide estimation for both product pricing as well as manufacturing pricing.
  • Research potential components vendors, compare and evaluate offers from suppliers.
  • Order proper quantities, negotiate pricing and shipment terms, and oversee the timely delivery of materials needed to fulfil R&D & production orders.
  • Design testing/evaluation processes for different production & operation phases.
  • Monitor the production process to assure compliance with specifications.
  • Responsible of order processing, fulfilment (including picking and packing), warehouse operations, inventory and order tracking, quality control, and shipping preparation
  • Search for, evaluate, and negotiate with potential industrial partners, contract manufacturers, suppliers, third party service providers and assembly partners (might include travel).
  • Compare quotes and production offers and decide on the best options.
  • Engage and contribute to the definition of strategic goals and targets of the company.
  • Plan and implement production automation techniques.
  • Identify potential sources for production variations and propose solutions for limiting such variations and enhance yield.
  • Work on & ensure compliance with international standards such as CE, FCC, and IC.
  • Prepare periodic reports to upper managements on production objectives, status, and plans.
  • Ensure the availability and reliability of IT systems and networks, managing technology vendors, and implementing new technologies and processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Handling special commercial and non-commercial operations tasks

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or other related majors (Master’s degree is a Plus)
  • 0-2 years of experience working in and managing/leading the production process of commercial/industrial products.
  • Experience with supply chain and inventory management.
  • Experience with Order Fulfilment.
  • Industry experience in additive manufacturing and 3D printers is a plus.
  • Familiarity with managing production schedules and ability to coordinate with different process stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze statistical production data to identify potential enhancements to the production flow.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and follow-up with tight project schedules.
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to interact with different company stakeholders.
